Narrative Machines
A group of quite small recent works which have been in my mind for a long time. They are akin to stage sets and as such are spaces in which stories can be found and created. These pieces are mini stages for as yet unwritten plays.
The plays might be more ‘Waiting for Godot’ or ‘End game’ than ‘Blythe Sprit’ or ‘The Chalk Garden’.
Somewhere among/between surrealism & theatre of the absurd.
They are made of Waxed Terra Cotta & have a life individually or as a group of Narrative Machines.
Some forms, shapes and themes come from paintings or drawings found elsewhere in this site. Others are amalgamations invented & found when the piece is under construction.
Some of it just happens while I am not looking.
